CVE-2025-57738 is a remote code execution vulnerability in Apache Syncope’s extensibility mechanism for custom Java and Groovy implementations. Apache Syncope allows deployments to customize core behavior by supplying implementations of selected interfaces, and Groovy-based implementations are especially exposed because they support runtime reload. In affected versions, a malicious administrator can inject crafted Groovy code that is subsequently executed by the running Apache Syncope Core instance. The flaw was addressed by forcing Groovy code to execute inside a sandbox, indicating insufficient restriction of dynamically supplied code in the vulnerable design. Affected versions include Syncope 4.0.0 through 4.0.1, 3.0.0 through 3.0.13, and 2.1.0 through 2.1.14.
