CVE-2025-61590 affects Cursor, an AI-assisted code editor. According to the provided content, versions 1.6 and earlier are vulnerable to remote code execution through abuse of Visual Studio Code workspace files. Cursor can operate with VS Code workspaces, including automatically created untitled workspaces (for example, untitled.code-workspace) and saved .code-workspace files that store folders and workspace settings for the current session. If an attacker can hijack the victim's chat context, such as through a compromised MCP server, they can use prompt injection to cause the Cursor Agent to write to a workspace file and alter its settings section. This behavior bypasses the protection associated with CVE-2025-54130 and enables code execution by modifying workspace configuration.
