CVE-2025-65715 is a command injection vulnerability in the Visual Studio Code Code Runner extension. The flaw is caused by insufficient validation of user-controlled configuration data in the code-runner.executorMap setting from settings.json. The extension is reported to pass this value into Node.js child_process.spawn() with shell execution enabled, allowing attacker-influenced command construction. If a developer opens a crafted workspace or applies malicious workspace or user settings that modify executorMap, subsequent use of Code Runner can trigger execution of arbitrary shell commands in the context of the logged-in user. Reported affected versions include Code Runner v0.12.2, with multiple reports asserting that the issue may affect all versions.
