CVE-2025-68724 is an integer-overflow vulnerability in the Linux kernel crypto asymmetric-keys subsystem, in asymmetric_key_generate_id. The function calculated storage requirements by adding binary-blob lengths and the size of an asymmetric_key_id structure without overflow checks. Maliciously oversized X.509 certificate fields, including serial-number and issuer-name data, could cause the calculation to wrap and result in a buffer overflow during subsequent data copying. The upstream fix uses check_add_overflow() for the size calculations and fails with -EOVERFLOW when an overflow is detected. The issue was introduced in Linux kernel 3.18 and is fixed upstream in 6.12.63, 6.17.13, 6.18.2, and 6.19-rc1, with vendor backports available for supported distributions.
