The flaw is in MsgReceiver.exe, which listens on TCP port 20001 and processes structured IPC-style messages. Specifically, the vulnerable code path is associated with handling message ID 0x1b5b in the "new protocol" format within msgHandlerLogReceiver.dll (reported in file version 8.0.0.7052). During parsing, the handler calls strstr(user_data, "\r\n") to locate a CRLF delimiter but does not verify whether strstr() returned NULL. If an attacker sends a crafted 0x1b5b message whose data omits the expected CRLF sequence, the code performs pointer arithmetic on a NULL-derived value, leading to invalid memory access and an access violation. Authentication is not required to reach the vulnerable service.
