CVE-2025-69260 is a remote, unauthenticated message parsing vulnerability in Trend Micro Apex Central on Windows, affecting versions prior to Build 7190. The flaw is in the MsgReceiver.exe service, specifically within msgHandlerLogReceiver.dll while processing a legacy format message associated with message ID 0x1b5b. The vulnerable logic handles x_astring fields by reading an attacker-controlled size value and advancing an internal buffer cursor without validating that the declared string length remains within the bounds of the received message buffer. As a result, a crafted message can cause the parser to create a pointer to invalid memory and perform an out-of-bounds read, leading to an access violation and service crash. The issue is reachable remotely over the network and does not require authentication or user interaction.
