CVE-2025-69260 is a remote, unauthenticated denial-of-service vulnerability in Trend Micro Apex Central (on-premise) on Windows, affecting versions below Build 7190. The flaw is in MsgReceiver.exe, which listens on TCP port 20001 and processes structured IPC-style messages. Specifically, the vulnerable code path handles message ID 0x1b5b in the legacy format within msgHandlerLogReceiver.dll (reported in file version 8.0.0.7052). The parser processes x_astring fields by reading a 32-bit size and advancing an internal buffer cursor by 4 + size bytes. Because the attacker-controlled x_astring.size value is not properly validated against the end of the message buffer, an attacker can move the cursor beyond the valid buffer boundary. Subsequent processing of the next string then dereferences memory outside the intended buffer, resulting in an out-of-bounds read and process crash.
