CVE-2025-71214 is a local privilege escalation vulnerability in the Trend Micro Apex One agent for macOS, specifically within the iCore service. The flaw is caused by improper validation of the origin of IPC messages, allowing a locally executing low-privileged attacker to interact with the service in a way that bypasses intended trust boundaries. Because the vulnerable service runs with elevated privileges, successful exploitation can result in arbitrary code execution in the context of root. The issue has been described as an origin validation error affecting Apex One SaaS for Mac and was addressed through ActiveUpdate/SaaS updates released in mid to late 2025.
