CVE-2025-71399 is a path normalization bypass vulnerability affecting Better Auth versions prior to 1.4.5 through its dependency chain on better-call and the rou3 router library. In affected rou3 versions, URL paths are normalized by removing empty path segments, causing variants such as a single-slash path and equivalent paths containing multiple consecutive slashes to resolve to the same route. This behavior can cause Better Auth path-based security controls to be evaluated inconsistently, allowing requests crafted with extra slashes to bypass disabledPaths restrictions and path-based rate limiting. The issue is fixed in Better Auth 1.4.5, which bundles a corrected rou3 version.
