CVE-2026-0882 is a high-severity use-after-free vulnerability in the IPC (inter-process communication) component of Mozilla Firefox and Thunderbird. The flaw affects Firefox prior to 147, Firefox ESR prior to 115.32 and 140.7, and Thunderbird prior to 147 and 140.7. A use-after-free condition can occur when memory associated with an IPC object is freed and later reused, creating a memory corruption condition in a security-sensitive browser subsystem. Mozilla’s advisory classifies the issue as high severity, and supporting advisory content indicates the resulting corruption could crash the application and may be exploitable for arbitrary code execution in the context of the browser process.
