CVE-2026-11605 is a remotely exploitable resource exhaustion vulnerability in BIND 9's DNSSEC validation logic. When processing a DNS response, BIND validates all RRSIG records present in the answer, including valid signatures that are not strictly necessary for successful validation. An attacker can induce disproportionate CPU consumption by causing the resolver to query an authoritative server or zone that returns a large number of superfluous but valid RRSIG records. This creates an algorithmic denial-of-service condition in which the validator performs excessive cryptographic verification work relative to the usefulness of the returned data. Affected versions are BIND 9.20.0 through 9.20.24, 9.21.0 through 9.21.23, and 9.20.9-S1 through 9.20.24-S1.
