CVE-2026-12851 is a critical OS command injection vulnerability affecting GeoVision GV-I/O Box 4E version 2.09. The flaw resides in the internal library libNetSetObj.so, specifically in the function CNetSetObj::m_F_n_Set_DNS_Addr, which is used by device components to configure DNS settings as part of broader network stack management. The function accepts up to two DNS address parameters, incorporates those values directly into shell command strings using sprintf, and executes the resulting commands via system() without sanitizing attacker-controlled input. Because the vulnerable routine is reachable through the network-exposed DVRSearch service and the Network.cgi endpoint, a remote attacker can supply crafted DNS parameter values in a network request and inject arbitrary shell metacharacters or commands. Successful exploitation results in command execution on the underlying operating system of the device.
