CVE-2026-13321 is a high-severity DNSSEC validation bypass vulnerability in BIND 9. The flaw is in resolver handling of DNSSEC-signed NSEC records: BIND accepts validly signed NSEC records even when the NSEC "Next Domain Name" field points outside the signer’s authoritative zone. This breaks expected zone-boundary validation semantics and allows an attacker to construct NSEC coverage that improperly spans into other zones. As a result, a malicious actor controlling any DNSSEC-signed zone can induce the resolver to cache forged negative answers for names in unrelated victim zones while treating those responses as authenticated.
