CVE-2026-14476 is a path traversal vulnerability in the System Security Services Daemon (SSSD) Active Directory Group Policy Object provider. The ad_gpo_extract_smb_components() function fails to sanitize parent-directory traversal sequences in the gPCFileSysPath LDAP attribute. An attacker with AD GPO management access can manipulate this attribute to cause SSSD to write files outside the intended GPO cache directory with root privileges. On default Red Hat Enterprise Linux configurations, exploitation can inject Kerberos configuration and bypass authentication even when SELinux is enforcing.

A path traversal flaw in SSSD's AD GPO provider allows attackers with Active Directory GPO management access to write files as root outside the GPO cache directory. The advisory describes Kerberos configuration injection and resulting authentication bypass on default RHEL configurations, even with SELinux enforcing.
