CVE-2026-14739 is a heap overflow vulnerability in Perl DBI before version 1.650. The flaw occurs during SQL statement preparsing when DBI processes an extreme number of placeholder characters. The earlier fix for CVE-2026-10879 did not allocate sufficient memory to safely handle approximately 1.2 million placeholders, leaving the preparse logic vulnerable to heap-based memory corruption. DBI 1.650 addresses the issue by imposing a hard upper bound of 99,999 placeholders during preprocessing.
