CVE-2026-1526 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in the undici WebSocket client caused by unbounded memory consumption during processing of the permessage-deflate extension. When a WebSocket connection negotiates permessage-deflate, undici decompresses attacker-controlled compressed frames without enforcing a limit on the size of the decompressed output. The flaw is present in the PerMessageDeflate.decompress() method, which accumulates decompressed chunks in memory and concatenates them into a single Buffer without verifying that the total expanded size remains within a safe threshold. A malicious WebSocket peer can therefore send a small compressed payload that expands massively in memory, creating a decompression bomb condition.
