CVE-2026-15422 is a critical vulnerability in the illumos SCTP inbound processing path. During association lookup for SCTP INIT ACK chunks, the kernel does not adequately validate address parameters carried in the chunk before using them. This lookup occurs during packet classification, before SCTP integrity checks and before IPsec policy is applied. A remote, unauthenticated attacker can send a crafted SCTP INIT ACK packet containing malformed address parameters to trigger an out-of-bounds access in kernel memory, resulting in heap corruption. The flaw has existed since 2010 and affects illumos-based systems prior to illumos-gate commit 53a3efde.
