CVE-2026-16584 is a security policy bypass vulnerability in AWS API MCP Server affecting versions 0.2.13 through 1.3.46. The flaw stems from improper handling of a failure during server startup while initializing the data required for security policy enforcement. If this initialization step fails, the server continues running instead of failing closed, and the per-request policy enforcement logic is skipped for the lifetime of the process. As a result, user-configured policy restrictions intended to deny or gate specific AWS API operations are not enforced. The issue does not bypass or alter AWS IAM authorization; requests are still constrained by the permissions attached to the configured credentials.
