CVE-2026-16796 is a command argument injection vulnerability in the AWS Bedrock AgentCore Python SDK before version 1.18.1. The flaw exists in the Code Interpreter tool's install_packages() method, where attacker-controlled Python package specifiers are incorporated into a shell command used to invoke pip install. Weak validation of package extras allowed crafted arguments containing shell metacharacters to pass validation, resulting in improper neutralization of argument delimiters. As a result, a remote authenticated user who can influence package arguments can trigger shell evaluation and execute arbitrary commands inside the Code Interpreter sandbox container. The issue is associated with insufficient validation of PEP 508 extras syntax and unsafe shell command construction in the install_packages() flow.
