CVE-2026-17497 affects NoteGen before version 0.32.0. The vulnerability is caused by an overly permissive Tauri shell plugin configuration in the default desktop capabilities that allows execution of shell commands through bash, python, and python3 with arbitrary arguments. JavaScript executing inside the application's webview can invoke the shell plugin execute functionality and pass attacker-controlled commands to the underlying operating system. Because those commands run with the privileges of the NoteGen process, any attacker-controlled script execution in the webview can be turned into operating system command execution. In practical terms, a webview script execution primitive, such as cross-site scripting in chat content, can be chained with this misconfiguration to achieve full remote code execution on the affected user's machine.
