CVE-2026-18536 affects Perl Data::Entropy versions before 0.010. The vulnerability arises from the use of remote entropy sources over plain HTTP in the Data::Entropy::RawSource::RandomOrg and Data::Entropy::RawSource::RandomnumbersInfo components, combined with a trivially bypassable integrity check in the RandomOrg source implementation that accepts any non-empty byte string. When an application selects one of these remote sources via with_entropy_source, an on-path attacker can intercept and replace the server response, causing attacker-chosen data to be consumed as entropy. As a result, the values returned by rand_bits and rand_int can be fully influenced by the attacker. The attacker can also control the response evaluated by the _checkbuf method, allowing manipulation of retry and sleep behavior.
