CVE-2026-20007 is a vulnerability in the Snort 2 and Snort 3 deep packet inspection functionality of Cisco Secure Firewall Threat Defense (FTD) Software that can allow an unauthenticated remote attacker to bypass configured Snort rules. The issue is caused by a logic error in the integration between the Snort engine rule processing and Cisco Secure FTD, where different Snort rules may be matched during deep inspection of the inner and outer connections. By sending crafted traffic to a targeted device, an attacker can trigger this rule-handling inconsistency and cause traffic that should have been blocked under the configured inspection policy to be permitted.
