A denial-of-service vulnerability in the IKEv2 feature of Cisco Secure Firewall ASA Software and Cisco Secure FTD Software allows an unauthenticated remote attacker to exhaust device memory by sending crafted IKEv2 packets. The flaw is caused by improper memory management during IKEv2 packet processing, specifically failure to free allocated memory, which leads to progressive memory exhaustion. As resources are depleted, the affected device can enter a denial-of-service condition and may also affect the availability of services to other devices elsewhere in the network. Recovery may ultimately require a manual reload of the device.
