CVE-2026-20283 is an authenticated remote command-injection vulnerability in the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) IPsec Open API endpoint. Insufficient validation of user-supplied input allows an attacker with valid administrative credentials to submit crafted API input and execute arbitrary commands on the underlying operating system. Exploitation requires a node with multiple network interfaces, including an active IPsec tunnel. The vulnerability is present only when an IPsec VTI tunnel is created through the API. The resulting privilege level can be readily escalated to root.

An authenticated remote command-injection vulnerability in the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) IPsec Open API endpoint. It requires valid administrative credentials and a node with more than one network interface, including an active IPsec tunnel. Cisco rates its security impact High because root access is easy to obtain from the achieved privilege level.
A medium-severity Cisco Identity Services Engine vulnerability that Cisco considers high risk because the privileges obtained could readily lead to root access.
