CVE-2026-20633 is a macOS Archive Utility vulnerability caused by improper handling of symbolic links. Apple states the issue was addressed with improved handling of symlinks and that a vulnerable app may be able to access user-sensitive data. The flaw affects macOS Sequoia, Sonoma, and Tahoe prior to the fixed releases macOS Sequoia 15.7.5, macOS Sonoma 14.8.5, and macOS Tahoe 26.4. Based on the vendor description, the issue is consistent with a symlink-following/path resolution weakness in Archive Utility that could allow archive processing or related file operations to resolve attacker-influenced links and reach sensitive data outside the intended scope.
