CVE-2026-20691 is an authorization flaw in WebKit Sandboxing that can allow a maliciously crafted webpage to fingerprint a user. The issue was attributed to improper state management in authorization handling, enabling web content to obtain distinguishing information that should not have been exposed under the intended sandboxing and privacy model. Apple and downstream WebKit consumers addressed the vulnerability through improved state management. The issue affected Safari and multiple Apple operating systems, and also affected WebKitGTK and WPE WebKit before version 2.52.1.
