CVE-2026-21249 is a spoofing and NTLM credential disclosure vulnerability in Microsoft Windows. The flaw is associated with improper input validation and external control of a file name or path during processing of searchConnector-ms content. By supplying crafted searchConnector-ms data and inducing a user to open a malicious file or visit a malicious page, an attacker can cause Windows to initiate NTLM authentication and disclose NTLM responses in the security context of the current user. The issue is local in CVSS classification but depends on user interaction and malicious content handling by the affected Windows component.
