CVE-2026-23243 is a local memory-corruption vulnerability in the Linux kernel RDMA umad subsystem, in the ib_umad_write path within drivers/infiniband/core/user_mad.c. The flaw arises because ib_umad_write derives data_len from a user-controlled write count together with MAD header sizing. If an attacker supplies inconsistent user MAD header sizing and RMPP header length values, the computed data_len can become negative and still be passed into ib_create_send_mad(). That invalid length then causes the padding calculation to exceed the segment size, ultimately triggering an out-of-bounds memset in alloc_send_rmpp_list(). The issue was observed as a KASAN-reported slab out-of-bounds write. The upstream fix adds an explicit validation step in ib_umad_write to reject negative data_len values before the send buffer is created.
