CVE-2026-23670 is a local security feature bypass vulnerability in Windows Virtualization-Based Security (VBS) Enclave caused by an untrusted pointer dereference. The flaw affects VBS isolation guarantees and can allow an authorized local attacker to undermine Virtual Secure Mode separation between VTL0 and VTL1. Public reporting associates the issue with the “Download More RAM” attack chain, which abuses writable memory-module configuration data to induce physical memory aliasing and then leverages that condition to read and modify protected physical memory, including secure kernel-related regions. In demonstrated exploitation, the attacker used the resulting access to patch Secure Kernel Code Integrity logic, weaken Hypervisor-Enforced Code Integrity, and bypass VBS protections. Microsoft described the core issue as an untrusted pointer dereference in VBS Enclave that enables local bypass of a security boundary rather than a standalone remote code execution flaw.
