CVE-2026-23687 is an XML Signature Wrapping vulnerability in SAP NetWeaver Application Server ABAP and ABAP Platform, specifically affecting SAML response validation in NetWeaver’s SAML Service Provider. The flaw stems from improper verification of cryptographic signatures, where the platform validates the signature over one XML element while application logic consumes identity information from a different element. In the documented attack pattern, a valid signed assertion can be relocated into a Signature/Object element and a tampered outer assertion supplied, allowing the XML signature to remain valid while modified identity data is processed. An authenticated attacker with normal privileges can obtain a valid signed message and submit a modified signed XML document to the verifier, potentially causing acceptance of falsified identity information.
