CVE-2026-23876 is a heap-based buffer overflow in ImageMagick’s XBM image decoder, specifically in the ReadXBMImage function. In ImageMagick versions prior to 7.1.2-13 and 6.9.13-38, processing a maliciously crafted XBM image can cause controlled data to be written past the end of an allocated heap buffer. The flaw can be triggered by operations that read or identify an image, which makes it reachable through common image upload, conversion, thumbnailing, and automated media-processing workflows that invoke ImageMagick on untrusted input.
