CVE-2026-25679 is an input-validation flaw in the Go standard library's net/url package, specifically in url.Parse. The parser insufficiently validates the URL host or authority component and accepts certain malformed URLs as valid. In the reported cases, garbage preceding an IPv6 IP-literal in the authority can be treated as ignorable rather than causing the URL to be rejected. As a result, applications that rely on net/url.Parse for strict URL syntax validation may incorrectly accept malformed attacker-supplied URLs and then process them as legitimate endpoints.
