CVE-2026-25796 is a denial-of-service vulnerability in ImageMagick affecting versions prior to 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40. The flaw is located in the ReadSTEGANOImage() function in coders/stegano.c, where a watermark Image object is allocated but not freed on three early-return paths. This results in a definite memory leak of approximately 13.5 KB or more per invocation. An attacker able to repeatedly trigger the affected code path can cause unbounded memory consumption in processes that handle crafted or attacker-controlled image inputs.
