An attacker can craft attacker-controlled RDP content that does not adequately convey the security risk to the user, enabling deceptive presentation of connection details or trust context. Exploitation occurs over a network and depends on convincing a target user to open or view the malicious RDP content. Microsoft introduced enhanced warnings for opening RDP files as part of the April 2026 security update.
