CVE-2026-26983 is a use-after-free vulnerability in ImageMagick's MSL interpreter. In versions prior to 7.1.2-15 and 6.9.13-40, processing an invalid <map> element can cause the interpreter to reference an image object after it has already been freed. This memory-safety flaw can crash the process and may expose the application to further memory corruption consequences depending on exploitability and runtime conditions.

<map> elements. Where image processing cannot be avoided, isolate ImageMagick in a sandbox or container, run it with least privilege, and apply input validation to reduce exposure and blast radius.Patch, then assume compromise.
