CVE-2026-27727 is an arbitrary code execution vulnerability in mchange-commons-java, a Java utility library that includes its own implementation of JNDI dereferencing behavior similar to early JDK implementations. The vulnerable code supports remote factoryClassLocation values, allowing code to be downloaded and invoked inside a running application during resolution of a crafted javax.naming.Reference or related serialized object. If an attacker can cause an application to process a malicious JNDI Reference or serialized object through this implementation, the application may retrieve attacker-controlled classes from a remote location and execute them. Because this JNDI dereferencing logic is implemented independently of the JDK, it can bypass the protections introduced in hardened JDK behavior such as the default-disabled trustURLCodebase setting. Libraries such as c3p0 may expose reachable paths to the vulnerable functionality when they rely on mchange-commons-java for reference resolution. Starting in version 0.4.0, the JNDI functionality is gated by configuration parameters that default to restrictive values.
