CVE-2026-27760 is an unauthenticated PHP code injection vulnerability in OpenCATS affecting versions prior to the fix in commit 3002a29f4c3cada1aa2c4f3d4ae4e189906606b6. The flaw is in the installer AJAX endpoint, specifically the databaseConnectivity action exposed via /ajax.php?f=install:ui&a=databaseConnectivity. User-controlled request parameters are passed from modules/install/ajax/ui.php into CATSUtility::changeConfigSetting(), which rewrites config.php. The vulnerable logic interpolates attacker-supplied values directly into PHP define() statements without sanitization, allowing an attacker to break out of the quoted string context with a single quote and statement separator and inject arbitrary PHP statements. The injected code is written persistently into config.php and will execute on subsequent page loads because config.php is globally included. Exploitation is possible when the installation wizard remains accessible, i.e., the INSTALL_BLOCK file is absent because setup was not completed.
