CVE-2026-28224 is a network-accessible denial-of-service vulnerability in Firebird, the open-source relational database management system. In Firebird versions prior to 5.0.4, 4.0.7, and 3.0.14, if the server receives an op_crypt_key_callback packet before authentication has occurred, the port_server_crypt_callback handler has not been initialized. Processing this unexpected packet in the unauthenticated state leads to a null pointer dereference and crashes the server process.
