CVE-2026-28316 is an insecure direct object reference vulnerability in SolarWinds Serv-U affecting version 15.5.4 HF1 and earlier on Linux and Windows. The flaw arises from improper authorization around object access, allowing a user with an existing domain account that has administrator-level access to reach functionality or resources in a way that results in escalation to a Serv-U system administrator context. On Linux deployments, successful exploitation can further enable execution of commands with root privileges. The issue is classified as CWE-639 and has been described as having lower impact on Windows deployments.
