CVE-2026-28316 is an insecure direct object reference vulnerability in SolarWinds Serv-U affecting version 15.5.4 HF1 and below on Windows and Linux. The flaw arises from improper authorization around object access, allowing an attacker with an existing domain account that has administrator access to escalate privileges to a system administrator context. In Linux deployments, successful exploitation can further enable execution of commands as the root user. The vulnerability is classified as CWE-639 and has been assigned CVSS v3.1 vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H.
