CVE-2026-28821 is a local privilege-escalation vulnerability in macOS CoreServices caused by improper validation during entitlement verification. Apple states that 'a validation issue existed in the entitlement verification' and that the flaw was fixed through improved validation of the process entitlement. A malicious application may be able to abuse this weakness to have its entitlements evaluated incorrectly, resulting in execution with elevated privileges beyond those legitimately granted to the app. Apple fixed the issue in macOS Sequoia 15.7.5, macOS Sonoma 14.8.5, and macOS Tahoe 26.4.
