CVE-2026-29203 is an unsafe symlink handling vulnerability in the cPanel Nova plugin, specifically in Cpanel::Nova::Connector, where a chmod operation follows symbolic links. An authenticated cPanel user who can place a symlink at a user-controlled legacy Nova path under their home directory can cause the privileged chmod operation to act on the symlink target rather than the intended file. This allows modification of permissions on arbitrary system files or directories. The issue affects cPanel & WHM/WP Squared builds prior to the patched releases published on 2026-05-08.
