CVE-2026-31554 is a use-after-free vulnerability in Linux kernel futex requeue handling. The flaw arises when sys_futex_requeue() is invoked with differing flags for the relevant futex operations. Support for differing flags had been retained for variable-sized futex work that was not merged, permitting an invalid lifetime-handling condition. The upstream correction requires identical flags, matching the behavior of the legacy sys_futex() requeue operations.
