CVE-2026-32282 is a time-of-check/time-of-use vulnerability in the Go standard library's Root.Chmod operation on Linux. Linux's fchmodat syscall silently ignores AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW, which Root.Chmod relies on to prevent symlink traversal. Although Root.Chmod validates its target and rejects symlinks pointing outside the designated root, replacing the target with a symlink between validation and the chmod operation can cause permissions to be changed on a file outside that root.

A time-of-check/time-of-use race condition in stdlib Root.Chmod on Linux can allow permission changes to files outside the intended root. The Linux fchmodat syscall silently ignores AT_SYMLINK_NOFOLLOW, permitting symlink traversal if an attacker replaces the checked target between validation and the chmod operation. The plugin rates the vulnerability Medium, with a CVSS v3 base score of 6.4, requiring local access, high privileges, and high attack complexity.
A moderate-severity local vulnerability requiring high attack complexity and high privileges, with potential high impact to confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
A moderate-severity locally exploitable vulnerability addressed by a TuxCare AlmaLinux 9.6 security update. Exploitation requires high attack complexity and high privileges, with no user interaction required; successful exploitation could compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability.
A vulnerability in Go's internal/syscall/unix implementation where Root.Chmod can follow symbolic links outside the intended root directory, potentially allowing a highly privileged local attacker to alter permissions outside that root boundary.
