CVE-2026-33835 is a local elevation-of-privilege vulnerability in the Windows Cloud Files Mini Filter Driver, implemented in the kernel-mode component cldflt.sys. The flaw is a use-after-free condition in which a memory object can be freed while a stale reference remains reachable, enabling subsequent access to invalid memory. Available reporting indicates exploitation may involve crafted I/O request patterns or IOCTL-driven interaction with the driver to trigger the vulnerable code path and reclaim the freed memory with attacker-controlled data. Because the affected component executes in kernel mode and underpins Windows cloud file synchronization functionality, successful exploitation can allow a low-privileged local user to transition from user mode to SYSTEM-level control without user interaction.
