CVE-2026-3429 is an improper access control vulnerability in the Keycloak Account REST API. The flaw allows a user who is authenticated only at a lower level of assurance to perform a sensitive account-management action that should require stronger re-authentication or proof of possession of an already-registered multi-factor credential. Specifically, an attacker who has obtained a victim’s password can authenticate to the victim account and delete the victim’s registered MFA/OTP credential without first satisfying the higher-assurance check that the deleted factor is intended to enforce. After removing the existing MFA credential, the attacker can enroll a new MFA device under their control, defeating the protection boundary between password-only access and MFA-protected account recovery or credential management.
