CVE-2026-35025 is a high-severity access control bypass vulnerability in ProFTPD affecting versions through 1.3.9b and 1.3.10rc2. The flaw is in handling of the RNFR command, where an authenticated FTP user can prefix a path with /proc/self/root to bypass Directory ACL restrictions. The issue stems from unresolved symlink components in dir_canonical_path(), which leads dir_check() to perform lexical path comparisons that do not match configured Directory blocks. As a result, access controls intended to protect DenyAll-restricted directories can be bypassed, allowing unauthorized rename operations against files in those protected locations and enabling later retrieval of the affected files.
