CVE-2026-35418 is a local elevation-of-privilege vulnerability in the Windows Cloud Files Mini Filter Driver (cldflt.sys). The flaw is described as a use-after-free condition and is also associated with a time-of-check time-of-use race condition. It occurs in kernel space when one execution path continues using an object after another concurrent path has freed it, creating a dangling pointer condition in the driver. A locally authenticated attacker with low privileges can trigger the race and potentially reclaim the freed memory with controlled data, leading to arbitrary code execution in kernel context. Because the vulnerable component is a kernel-mode mini-filter driver used by Windows cloud file synchronization features, successful exploitation can result in escalation to SYSTEM.
