CVE-2026-37540 is an integer overflow vulnerability in the OpenAMP v2025.10.0 ELF firmware loader, specifically in lib/remoteproc/elf_loader.c during parsing of ELF images for remote processor firmware loading. When handling PT_LOAD segments, the loader multiplies two attacker-controlled 16-bit values derived from the ELF header using 32-bit arithmetic without validating for overflow. On 32-bit embedded platforms, including STM32MP1, Zynq, and i.MX, a sufficiently large pair of header values can cause the multiplication result to wrap to a smaller value before that result is used in subsequent memcpy length validation and destination-region size calculations. This can cause the loader to accept malformed firmware metadata and proceed with unsafe memory operations during the firmware load sequence.
