CVE-2026-40933 is a critical command injection vulnerability in Flowise affecting versions prior to 3.1.0. The flaw is in the Model Context Protocol (MCP) adapter’s handling and serialization of stdio-based MCP server commands. Flowise allows users to configure Custom MCP tools that launch local processes via stdio transport; insufficient sanitization and unsafe trust in user-controlled command and argument fields allow an authenticated attacker to supply a command line that results in arbitrary operating system command execution. Reported exploitation paths include directly creating or editing a Custom MCP stdio configuration and importing a crafted chatflow containing a malicious MCP configuration. In affected deployments, tool enumeration during rendering or import can trigger execution before any explicit save or run action. The issue persists despite validation logic and allowlisting because permitted commands can still be combined with arguments or environment-controlled behaviors that invoke arbitrary code. Successful exploitation yields code execution in the security context of the Flowise process.
