CVE-2026-40984 is a high-severity denial-of-service vulnerability in Micrometer HTTP server instrumentation. Specially crafted HTTP requests can trigger uncontrolled resource consumption in applications using vulnerable Micrometer components, causing the application to spend excessive resources while processing instrumented HTTP traffic. The issue affects micrometer-core versions 1.16.0 through 1.16.5, 1.15.0 through 1.15.11, 1.14.0 through 1.14.15, 1.13.0 through 1.13.18, and 1.9.0 through 1.9.17, as well as micrometer-jetty11 and micrometer-jetty12 versions 1.13.0 through 1.16.5 on their respective supported branches. The weakness is classified as CWE-400, indicating uncontrolled resource consumption in the HTTP server metrics instrumentation path.
