CVE-2026-41048 is a local authentication bypass vulnerability in qSnapper before version 1.3.3. The flaw is caused by incorrect caching of Polkit authorization state between distinct privileged methods in the root-running qSnapper D-Bus service. In affected versions, qSnapper caches a prior successful authentication and reuses it across different Polkit actions instead of binding the cached state to the specific action being authorized. As a result, authorization obtained for one operation, such as deleting a snapshot, can be incorrectly treated as authorization for a different operation, such as restoring from a snapshot or other rollback-related functionality. The issue breaks intended separation between privileged methods and allows a local user to invoke functionality beyond the permissions they were meant to have.
